Artist Statement
Art has been at the center of my life ever since I was a child. It is the golden thread that connects all my experiences together and carries me through.
My personal art practice has been influenced by Abstract Expressionism, as well as artists such as James Turrell, Sarah Sze, Andrea Soos, Ingrid Koenig, and Alex Grey. I’m interested in the ideas of metaphysics and quantum mechanics, as well as parallel realities or universes and sacred geometry.
I work in an abstract expressionist style that is very fluid and gestural. My process involves layers of water and paint, one after the other, and I tend to work very quickly. Often my canvas is parallel to the ground and I work from above, splattering bright colours of paint as an expression of joy. I build up layers of texture until each painting or drawing becomes a portal to another dimension that viewers can enter through.
I’m fascinated by metaphysics and and the underlying mysticism of everyday life, as well as parallel realities or dimensions and sacred geometry. I’ve been inspired by artists such as James Turrell, Sarah Sze, Andrea Soos, Ingrid Koenig, Alex Grey, Autumn Skye, and the Abstract Expressionist movement.
My style is very fluid and gestural, that focuses on colour, texture, and balance. My process involves moving quickly and adding layer after layer of water and paint. I’m drawn to fluorescents and other bright colours, and I think it adds tremendous amount of joy and vitality to the work.
